Virginia contains 62 federal campgrounds managed by three agencies: the U.S. Forest Service operates 33 sites, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages 15, and the National Park Service oversees 14. Collectively, these campgrounds offer approximately 2,246 overnight sites. Note that this directory covers federal campgrounds only; state parks and private campgrounds such as KOA are outside the scope of this resource.

Most Virginia federal campgrounds—57 of the 62 total—accept reservations through Recreation.gov, the federal government's centralized booking platform. For current availability, detailed site information, and to make reservations, visit Recreation.gov directly. Facilities range from developed campgrounds with amenities to more primitive sites, distributed across national forests, lakes managed by the Army Corps of Engineers, and National Park Service areas throughout the state.
